These slides and hand out are designed to support the delivery of the Component One topic of markets. They explain what is meant by consumer protection and why consumers require protection. It outlines some examples of poor business practice and provides some video case studies about the need to protect consumers from exploitation. It also considers the role of the Government through legislation (e.g. Consumer Rights Acts 2015) and other regulatory bodies such as the Competition and Markets Authority and Trading Standards.
